A family in Fresno, California is currently suffering through the biggest nightmare any new parent could imagine after their pet dogs accidentally killed their newborn daughter.
According to police, the 3-day-old infant named Susie Kirby was left alone on the couch for mere seconds on Monday afternoon when the family's two shar pei/pit bull mixes entered the living room and proceeded to kill her.
It's unclear whether the baby was bitten or simply too small to endure any sort of rough-housing from the animals, but regardless, the local Central California SPCA has confirmed both dogs have to be euthanized.
The 33-year-old mother says she left her daughter on the couch for just a few moments as she went to the bathroom, and returned to the living room after hearing a short scream.
Apparently, the woman thought her older brother's two dogs were tied up outside, but that was unfortunately not the case.
The case is still being investigated by Police, but they do not believe there to be any foul play… this was simply a tragic accident.
